The ASAA Firearms training and handling system

Introduction to The ASAA Firearms Training System

ASAA Europe offers firearms training using the firearms handling system developed by G.D. Taylor that span the last 30 years. His methods are simple and highly effective. The techniques were devised as a direct result of real world situations and are based on Taylor’s personal experiences of combat in both military and worldwide covert operations, where very often, men were killed as a result of poor drills and weapon handling.

As a result of the widespread use of the ASAA techniques, the system has been adopted over the last 12 years by European Police and Military Forces, including SWAT teams, Special Forces and Conventional Military Forces such as The German and Austrian Army, The Belgian Army, The Swiss Army and Air force, and The Swiss Police. This list is illustrative and is in no way exhaustive

It is credit to the ASAA training methods that in almost 30 years of instruction there have not been any injuries or material damages. This is as a result of the four rules of weapon handling that are instilled into every pupil before training begins, and reinforced throughout.

As of 2008 The British Army are taking steps to adopt the system through the Swiss Army as a direct result of the teaching and safety methods that develop a mindset previously unencountered in military training.

The Swiss Army alone has trained over 250,000 men, in three languages, without a fatal accident or injury since the formal adoption of the system in 1996.

The ASAA is the only firearms training system to be adopted by multiple Armed Forces.

Tactical Firearms Training on one of our outdoor ranges in Switzerland

The chances are that if you have seen modern photographs of soldiers or bodyguards carrying weapons, their style will have been influenced by the ASAA. Chuck Taylor has had more input than any other person in the area of weapons handling and safety. He is regularly consulted by the military and law enforcement agencies alike.

Our fully qualified European Division ASAA instructors have around 10 years of experience in firearms training. We have taught European Police Units, Border Protection Teams, and Special Forces as well as regular troops in weapon handling and tactics. Our broad training experience allows us to adapt and modify courses depending on the needs of the client.

Emphasis is placed on the student being responsible for their own actions. The rules of engagement for a civilian are different to those who serve in the forces of law and order. The ASAA courses take this into account and trains their students accordingly. Special Forces deploy under their own rules and regulations which do not apply to civilians who choose to carry firearms. This is an important point often overlooked by many other training providers.

The legal implications of 'instinctive' and 'point shooting' in a civilian environment leave not only the user, but the trainer open to criminal and civil action being bought against them.

In brief, an organisation is responsible for what it teaches, both in civil and legal terms. The spraying of rounds and emptying magazines into a target may look impressive until the time comes to justify your actions in a court of law. If you win the armed confrontation, the easy part is over.
